By MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte believes the recent political developments should alarm Filipinos across the political spectrum, as she accused the government of silencing the “opposition.”
For these reasons, the vice president is calling for the protection of the independence of government institutions.
“What we are witnessing today should concern every Filipino who believes in democracy, regardless of their beliefs or political affiliation,” Duterte said in a video statement.
