MANILA, Philippines — Allegedly counterfeit cigarettes worth P784 million were confiscated by the police in Negros Occidental, leading to the arrest of 10 Chinese individuals, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Friday.
Authorities earlier this week discovered the purported cigarette manufacturing operation in a warehouse in Purok Rosas, Barangay Calumangan, Bago City.
“Initial findings showed that [a facility in] Bacolod City was being used as a storage and consolidation point, while manufacturing activities were allegedly conducted in [the warehouse in] Bago City,” the DILG explained.
