MANILA, Philippines — Weather patterns show that the prevalence of the northeast monsoon or amihan is nearing its end, as the start of the hot and dry season may be declared by the last week of March, state meteorologists said on Friday afternoon.
During its weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that two weather systems are currently affecting the country — the northeast monsoon or the cold winds from the north, and the easterlies or the warm winds from the east, particularly the Pacific Ocean.
